The
General Panini projection is ideal for rendering ultra-wide views for
computer games. Of course it lets the gamer see more, as
these still images show. But another virtue becomes apparent
when the image is moving. Because it does not over-stretch the
periphery, the Panini view dramatically reduces distracting "swimming"
and "streaming" effects that mar moving wide-angle rectilinear
views.
